It’s a New Year, and time to start again.
Putting the book together was difficult at times, because of the many parts, everything from editing. pre-press. design, photographic printing and making sure the printing and reproduction in the book was as good as possible. At times, I had to face the memories of friends and loved ones who died of AIDS, that was incredibly difficult and to be honest, at times, became too much to deal with. I walked away from the book several times to take a break and remember why I was publishing this book in the first place.
During the time I was putting the book together, I stopped carrying my camera around, or taking photos at all. I put all my energies into the book and forgot about everything else. Today, January 1, 2019 is really just a day like day other. But, it’s the first day of the New Year, we attach something to this day, it’s a punctuation mark in our lives, a time to start again.
I’ve decided to begin shooting again, take my camera with me everywhere I go. I’ll post the images here in my blog. I’m setting an goal of 1 image a day. Maybe I’ll have something to say about the image, or maybe I’ll just post it with no explanation. Maybe the photos say something, or be just for fun. I invite you to follow along, leave comments if you want to share your thoughts.
Today I took my camera out and was impressed by the shadows cast by the sun. This time of year the sun is low in the horizon that the shadows are more pronounced and dramatic. So I’m starting the year off with the theme of shadows, maybe I’ll follow this theme for a while or something else will catch my eye.
Come back and see whats going on and feel free to share your thoughts below. – Bill Bytsura
