Hey Everyone,

2700 Photographs =- Bill Bytsura

I wanted to share something significant with you—I’m diving deep into my digital photography archive, a journey that spans from 2006 to today.

I was a late and reluctant adopter of digital photography. I never saw it as an improvement—if anything, today’s world of over-processed images and deep fakes reinforces my skepticism. The only upside I saw was reducing chemical waste in photography. Progress, I suppose.

Now, I want to return to my original vision, rather than edits made for social media. My process mirrors my darkroom days—adjusting contrast, exposure, and subtle refinements, but never altering the essence of the moment.

This approach is deeply rooted in the way I worked in the darkroom during my film days—making adjustments through exposure time, contrast, burning, dodging, and development choices. I won’t be making major digital alterations beyond what I could have done in a traditional darkroom. If I do make a significant edit, I’ll make note of it, and I might even share a before-and-after so you can weigh in.

This process has been an escape from the daily chaos. I hope, as we go along, you can step away from the noise and get lost in photography for a while.

Looking forward to sharing this with you all!
